What is Base64?

Base64 is an encoding scheme that converts binary data into ASCII characters. It is widely used to encode binary files (images, documents) for transmission over text-based protocols like email (MIME), JSON APIs, and HTML data URIs. Base64 increases data size by about 33%.

Is Base64 the same as encryption?
No. Base64 is encoding, not encryption. Anyone can decode a Base64 string instantly — it provides no security. Use it only for data format conversion, not to protect sensitive data.
How do I embed an image as Base64 in HTML?
Use the format: src="data:image/png;base64,YOUR_BASE64_HERE". This creates a self-contained HTML file without external image files.
